Sophie Thompson

Sophie Thompson is a digital journalist and editor specializing in short-form, video-led content. She joined The Independent in early 2022 as Short Form Content Editor for Indy100 and The Independent, focusing on viral trends, lifestyle topics, and news explainers. Promoted to Deputy Editor of Indy100 in December 2024, she now oversees editorial strategy while continuing to produce entertainment exclusives and social-first video content. Prior to The Independent, Thompson built experience at women's magazines including Cosmopolitan, Glamour, and Elle, earning a 2021 Young Digital Woman of the Year finalist nomination. She holds a Journalism BA from Goldsmiths, University of London, and serves as Editor-in-Chief of BLUSH Magazine while lecturing on fashion journalism at University of East London.
