Rowaida Abdelaziz

Rowaida Abdelaziz is an award-winning investigative journalist at HuffPost specializing in immigration, politics, and social justice, with a focus on Islamophobia and its intersections with policy and culture. She led HuffPost’s Islamophobia Tracker in 2016, documenting anti-Muslim rhetoric and its societal impacts. Her reporting has driven policy changes, reopened hate crime cases, and reunited families separated by discriminatory policies like the Trump-era travel ban. Abdelaziz’s work spans refugee crises in Gaza, Syria, Yemen, and other Arabic-speaking regions, offering nuanced perspectives often absent in mainstream media. A 2021 IRE Journalists of Color Reporting Fellow, she has received the 2024 Wilbur Award of Excellence and 2022 Goldziher Award. Before HuffPost, she served as a social media editor and Middle East researcher for the Committee to Protect Journalists.
