Rachel Syme

Rachel Syme joined The New Yorker as a freelance columnist in 2012 before becoming a full-time staff writer in 2020. She began her career at New York Magazine after completing Columbia University's Publishing Course and later served as culture editor at The Daily Beast. A graduate of NYU's Cultural Reporting and Criticism program, she transitioned from editing to writing through a decade of freelancing, contributing to NPR Books and publications like Elle, GQ, and Vanity Fair.
