Nick Keppler

Nick Keppler is a Pittsburgh-based freelance journalist and editor who has been active in the field since May 2011. He specializes in health science, public policy, psychology, and societal impacts of technology, with additional coverage areas including music, politics, and addiction. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Slate, Vice, The Daily Beast, Men's Health, Mental Floss, CityLab, and The Financial Times. Keppler has contributed to major breaking news events, including leading The Daily Beast's coverage of the 2018 Tree of Life tragedy, reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic for The Washington Post, covering 2020 presidential campaigns, and reporting from the 2023 East Palestine train derailment. He holds a B.A. in English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh and has written over two dozen podcast scripts, primarily for Law & Crime. Previously, he served as Night & Day Editor for Houston's alt-weekly, where he managed arts/entertainment coverage.
