About Michaela Cavanagh
Michaela Cavanagh is an award-winning Canadian journalist and writer based in Berlin, specializing in the human dimensions of the climate crisis. With an MA in Journalism and Politics from the University of Amsterdam/Aarhus University and an MFA in creative nonfiction from the University of King’s College, she combines rigorous research with literary storytelling. Her forthcoming book *Present Tense: How We Reckon With the End of the World* (2027, The New Press) explores global climate narratives through reportage. Cavanagh's work appears in The Atlantic, London Review of Books, Die Zeit, and LA Review of Books, supported by grants from the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources and others. As a 2024 visiting researcher at Munich's Rachel Carson Center and 2025 Transatlantic Media Fellow, she examines climate policy's cultural impacts. She serves as an editor for Deutsche Welle and maintains affiliations with the Society of Environmental Journalists.
