Melissa Thompson is an award-winning food writer, cookbook author, and culinary curator who has significantly influenced discussions around diversity in the food industry. As co-director of the British Library's Food Season since at least 2024, she helps shape this annual festival that explores food history, global influences, and contemporary issues through talks, tastings, and panel discussions featuring figures like Prue Leith and Nadiya Hussain. Her career began in newspaper journalism before pivoting to food writing in 2015, culminating in her critically acclaimed 2022 cookbook 'Motherland' which traces Jamaican cuisine's evolution and was named a top cookbook by BBC Radio 4 and Financial Times.
