Mark Hertsgaard

Mark Hertsgaard (born 1956) is an acclaimed American journalist and author serving as The Nation's environment correspondent since the late 1990s. A pioneering climate reporter, he co-founded the global journalism initiative Covering Climate Now in 2019 and has reported from 25 countries on environmental issues. His career spans investigative political reporting (On Bended Knee: The Press and the Reagan Presidency), cultural analysis (A Day in the Life: The Music and Artistry of the Beatles), and groundbreaking climate journalism. Hertsgaard broke major stories including China's emergence as a climate superpower (The Atlantic, 1997) and the Beatles' posthumous reunion (The New Yorker, 1995).
