Lisa Belkin

Lisa Belkin is an award-winning journalist and author with a distinguished career spanning over three decades. She spent nearly 30 years at The New York Times, where she held multiple roles including national correspondent (based in Houston), medical reporter, contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine, and creator of both the Life's Work column and the Motherlode blog. Her work at the Times focused on social issues, healthcare, and family dynamics, often described as covering 'the social conscience of our times'. Post-Times, she served as Senior Correspondent at HuffPost and Senior National Correspondent for Yahoo News, where she continued reporting on American social issues. Belkin is also the author of critically acclaimed books like *Show Me a Hero* (adapted into a Golden Globe-winning HBO miniseries) and *Genealogy of a Murder*, which blends investigative journalism with multigenerational storytelling. She has taught narrative nonfiction at Princeton University and currently teaches journalism ethics and feature writing at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
