Joshua Goodman

Joshua Goodman is an award-winning American journalist and the current Andean News Director at the Associated Press (AP), a role he has held since 2016. Based in Bogota, Colombia, Goodman leads AP’s coverage of major stories across Latin America, including Venezuela’s ongoing crisis, the Colombian peace process, and high-profile corruption investigations. He has reported extensively on economic, political, and human rights issues in the region, and is recognized for his investigative depth and narrative storytelling. Goodman began his career as a correspondent for Business Week in Buenos Aires and freelanced for outlets such as the Boston Globe and Financial Times. He later served as chief editor for Latin America at Bloomberg News, overseeing coverage of economics and politics and conducting major investigations, including on Chinese financial support for Venezuela. Goodman rejoined AP in 2013 as bureau chief for Colombia, Venezuela, and Panama, and has since broken exclusive stories, such as his 2019 interview with Nicolás Maduro and his reporting on the 2020 failed coup attempt in Venezuela. In 2023, he was awarded the Maria Moors Cabot Gold Medal for his storytelling from Latin America.
