James Dinneen

James Dinneen is an award-winning environment reporter at New Scientist with a strong academic foundation in science communication. He holds a master's degree in science writing from MIT (Class of 2022) and a BA in history, philosophy, and Asian studies from Colorado College. His career includes investigative journalism on environmental infrastructure, notably his National Magazine Award-finalist investigation into aging U.S. dams for Undark Magazine, which also won the American Society of Journalists and Authors investigative journalism award. Dinneen's work appears in National Geographic, Science, Yale Environment 360, and The Boston Globe, often focusing on climate solutions and ecological challenges. He's currently pursuing a 2023 Taylor/Blakeslee fellowship project examining America's nuclear energy infrastructure.
