About Ivy Knight

Ivy Knight began her career in the food industry at 19 as a dishwasher in British Columbia, later working as a line cook for a decade in restaurants across North America. Frustrated by the lack of authentic kitchen experiences represented in food media, she transitioned to writing while still working in kitchens. Since 2009, her work has appeared in The Globe and Mail, Vice, Playboy, Food & Wine, and The New York Times. She co-authored *The Everyday Squash Cook* (2014) and contributed to JK: The Jamie Kennedy Cookbook. Knight founded Industry Sessions (a speaker series for restaurant professionals) and created 86’d Mondays at Toronto’s Drake Hotel, featuring culinary icons like Anthony Bourdain. Her 2019 Landsberg Award nomination recognized her work on women’s equality issues.
