Elizabeth Heath

Elizabeth Heath is a US-born freelance journalist and editor based in Umbria, Italy, with over 15 years of experience covering Italian culture, travel, and archaeology. She holds degrees in fine art and humanities, completed doctoral studies in anthropology/archaeology, and taught university-level writing before transitioning to journalism. As executive editor of Italy Magazine, she launched the 'Inspired Stays' hotel series and currently serves as Italy Expert for TripSavvy while updating Frommer's Rome guidebooks. Her work appears in The Independent, Travel + Leisure, USA TODAY’s 10Best, and The Washington Post, with a focus on luxury travel, cultural immersion, and sustainable tourism. In 2023, she co-founded Villaggio Tours to offer small-group cultural experiences in Italian villages.
